Easter Bunnies

Do you already have ideas for Easter? Here’s a little inspiration, simple little Easter bunnies.

These sweet Easter bunnies are made out of a yeast dough that is fried in oil.
If it’s not Easter, you could also cut out other shapes or squares.

They taste best when they are fresh, either plain, with applesauce or, vanilla sauce.

Easter Bunnies
Zutaten
Yeast dough
  • 100 ml milk
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 10 g fresh yeast or ½ packet (3,5g) dry yeast
  • 250 g flour
  • 1 egg yolk
  • a pinch of salt
  • some grated lemon peel
  • 1 tbsp rum
  • 30 g butter
To fry
  • frying oil or sunflower oil
To roll
  • 50 g sugar
  • 1 sachet vanilla sugar
Anleitungen
  1. Put all the ingredients for the yeast dough in a bowl and knead into a smooth dough, for about 8 minutes.

  2. Cover and leave to rise at room temperature for about 1 hour.

  3. On a lightly floured work surface, roll out the dough to about 1 cm thick.

  4. Heat the oil in a pot.

  5. Cut out Easter bunnies from the dough.

  6. Fry the bunnies to a gold brown color. Not too hot or they will brown too quickly.

  7. Turn over and fry the second side.

  8. Remove the bunnies with a sieve scoop and leave to drain briefly on a plate with paper towel.

  9. Roll the bunnies in the sugar-vanilla, sugar mixture.

  10. Knead the rest of the dough together again and process in the same way.

  11. If desired, add a collar to a few of the bunnies.

  12. Serve while still fresh.
