Best Apple Pie
It is now time to go English, the American art.
I have baked this Apple Pie really often now, it is just delicious and so juicy.
Started with the pie crust, best Pie Crust ever! 😛
It’s buttery, crispy, simply delicious. Quick and easy to prepare.
The apple filling is amazing! I prepare a sweet marinade and mix the apples in. This makes the filling nice, juicy and very tasty. I am really proud of this Apple Pie.
It is best to use slightly sourly apples for apple pies.

Cherry Hand Pies
Strawberry Rhubarb Pie
- 350 g flour
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 250 g cold butter
- 6 tbsp ice cold water
Mix flour, sugar and salt.
Add cold butter pieces and knead. (Best using a food processor.)
Add ice water and knead for a very short moment.
Divide dough in two and wrap in cling film.
Place in fridge for 1 hour.
The butter and water should be very cold.
The dough should stay cold, that is why it is best to use a food processor to knead.
Knead the dough shortly, so it stays buttery and flaky.
For the ice water I use a small bowl with water and ice cubes. Out of this I take the 6 tablespoons of ice water.
- 1 Pie Crust
- 100 g butter
- 30 g flour
- 50 ml water
- 180 g sugar
- 900 g apples (weighed after cored and cut)
- 1½ tsp cinnamon powder
- some lemon juice
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 tbsp milk
Prepare pie crust.
Melt butter in a pot.
Mix in flour and cook for 1 minute.
Add water and sugar, mix and cook for 3 minutes.
Leave to cool.
Peel and core apples and cut in fine pieces.
Mix with cinnamon and lemon juice.
Mix cold marinade with apples.
Roll out one part of pie crust and put in pie dish.
Spread in the apple filling.
Roll out the second part. Cut in 10 equal stripes.
Put 5 stripes on pie.
Lift every second stripe to weave the other 5 stripes through.
Fold in the ends of the stripes.
Flute the edges.
Mix egg yolk and milk and brush on pie lattice.
Bake in preheated oven at 200° C for about 1 hour. Place baking paper on oven bottom to avoid dripping apple sauce from burning.
Leave to cool.
