Walnut Apple Cake
I wanted to bake a walnut cake, before our tratitional chrismas cookie baking challange starts 🙂 .
I added apples to make it more moist and tasty.
At my parents place there is a big walnut tree and luckily we had lots of fruits again this year.
Our children had the pleasure to crack the shells and grate the nuts and I used them in the cake.
Walnut cake topped with apples and chopped walnuts

- 2 tbsp sugar
- 150 g flour
- 100 g grated walnuts

Peel and core apples, cut in small pieces.
Mix apples with lemon juice, melted butter and 2 tablespoons sugar.
Mix flour, grated walnuts and baking powder in a bowl.
Whisk softened butter, sugar and vanilla.
Add eggs one after the other, beating each time inbetween.
Mix in the flour mixture.
Pour in prepared spring form and even smoothly.
Spread apples and chopped walnuts evenly on top.
Bake in preheated oven at 170 C for about 60 minutes.
Leave to cool and (optional) sprinkle with powdered sugar.
