I just love poppy seed cake – irresistible!


This Poppy Seed Cake is moist and succulent. I got the recipe from a very good friend of mines! Thank you very much!!!

The original recipe is actualy filled with cherry jam and covered with marzipan and chocolate. But I only topped with powdered sugar.




Poppy seed is a very rich superfood, full of minerals such as magnesium, iron, calcium, copper, potassium, manganese and zinc. Also known to be rich with thiamin and vitamin E . More under poppy seed qualities.


With a few ingredients, no flour, fast and easy to do. The right thing – gluten-free.




Poppy Seed Cake

Moist Poppy Seed Cake without flour - gluten free!

Gericht: Cake
  • 200 g butter, softened
  • 150 g sugar
  • a pinch of salt
  • 6 eggs
  • 200 g poppy seed, grounded
  1. Grease and flour a 20 cm spring form.

  2. Beat butter, sugar and egg yolk until fluffy. (about 5 min.)

  3. Whisk egg whites till stiff.

  4. Fold poppy seeds and egg white foam in butter mixture.

  5. Put in prepared spring form.

  6. Bake in preheated oven at 180 C for about 60 minutes. (Until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.)

  7. Let to cool for 10 minutes in the form and then remove it.

  8. When cold sprinkel with powdered sugar.

Enjoy baking!
